The area that we visited was coal country and very mountainous for the east coast.  In this area anthrisite, or hard coal, which is cleaner, burns hotter and leaves less pollutents. 
we found a mine that had been reopened for touring trade.  Much of the original equipment has been rebuilt, and is inspected every day before the mine tours open by certified inspectors.  Jouin us on a 554 foot tour under ground to see how the work was done by hand under groundClick here to go under ground.
