RAG RACING WHIPPETS

Whippets have been around for 1000's of years in one form or another.  The artist Oudrep, a French Rococo style artist (1686-1755)painted whippets.  One such painting entitle, "Italian Greyhounds or Whippets?"  The Whippet of Great Britain was known as the "poor mans Greyhound." Owners used to use a rabbit skin for what was called "rag racing", the modern version of mechanized track racing.
The Jersey Rag Racers Assoc. was in Delaware City on the 26th and 27 of April and burned up the parade ground with some smoking fast dogs.  If you get the chance to see these athletes run,  don't blink twice, flying by you at up to 40 mph.  you will miss the race.  CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS

The area that we visited was coal country and very mountainous for the east coast.  In this area anthrisite, or hard coal, which is cleaner, burns hotter and leaves less pollutents.
we found a mine that had been reopened for touring trade.  Much of the original equipment has been rebuilt, and is inspected every day before the mine tours open by certified inspectors.  Jouin us on a 554 foot tour under ground to see how the work was done by hand under groundClick here to go under ground.

Went to the Delaware State Fair yesterday, 07/26/2012, and felt like I was walking through a convection oven.  It was 97 degrees, with heat index around 103.  With the heat reflecting off the asphalt it felt even worse.  The little bit of breeze did not do any good.  Got some pictures, however.  Take a peak.  Nothing spectacular but it was still fun and a day away from work.Click here to see Pictures.

July 9th started out as an overcast day, but ended up beautiful after all.  I went too Bombay Hook with trepidation in my heart, for the place looked bad on a previous visit, because of the drought.  It was much worse than before.  From the second picture to the red wing black bird should be marsh land.  And in one of my earlier photo sets you can see rangers using an everglades taken in the same area.  I did get a few somewhat decent photos of the herons.Enjoy the photos!!!

On July 7, 2012 I was fortunate to attend a small informal dinner at Faith City Church.  In attendance was the wonderful Beckah Shea.  During the evening she performed for all in attendance.  After the singing we were able to have a meet and great time.  Poor Beckah.  By the time she was done she had to be exhausted.  But with grace she kept going.  No doubt she slept on the way home and her husband drove.  Enjoy the pictures and may God bless you and keep you.  Always remember you are loved, wanted and needed in Gods' kingdom.Click here!!!

The Eagle Has Landed In Delaware

On Sunday, a friend of mine told me about this cool place where there were some Eagles hanging out and fishing. Hopefully they had their Delaware license, because they were going to town. At 8:00AM they were already eating Susi or how ever you spell raw fish in Japanese.Have fun peaking in the restaurant window with me while these guys dined and just hung out for the morning.TAKE A PEAK.

Cecelia & Christian

Memorial Day was a real memory for this lovely couple. They wanted a photo shoot done at Battery Park, but an unwanted guest of 98 degree weather made things difficult for all. All in all everything went well. Many noise powdering, lipstick add ons, and two wonderful photogenic models made the day a sucess. Take a peek.

A View From The Back Porch

We may have been in the mountains for a week but we were not suffering from a bad view. This is the view we arose to every morning. Not to shabby.
